<p>We all grew up with the food pyramid that the government used to help us understand what is involved in a healthy diet. Well, the food pyramid is no more. To better help us visualize how much we should be eating of each food, the pyramid has been swapped for a plate. The plate shows what portion of the plate should hold what foods. For those who are younger, they should use smaller plates or decrease the sizes of the portions.</p>
<p>On the plate, half of it should be fruits and vegetables, with vegetables taking up a larger portion. The other half of the plate is protein and grains. Half of the grains eaten each day should be whole grains such as brown rice, whole wheat bread, etc. Dairy is to the side in the form of a cup (for milk), though of course this includes cheese, yogurt, and cream as well.</p>

Beans are generally low in fat and calories and are full of protein and fiber. <p>It&#8217;s hard to start exercising when you haven&#8217;t in so long. Here are some tips to help you get started again.</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>Choose a time and method.</strong> Don&#8217;t let yourself put it off or not go.</li>
<li><strong>Start off slow. </strong>The last thing you want to do is overdo it on the first day and be so sore and hurt that you can&#8217;t continue. So start slow. If you plan on jogging, walk for the first couple weeks or do fast <a href="http://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercise/guide/exercise-habits">jogging</a>. If you want to run a marathon, start with running half a mile and increase it slowly.</li>
<li><strong>Do something you love.</strong> It&#8217;s easy to choose jogging because anyone can do it, but if you don&#8217;t love it, then you won&#8217;t stick with it. It&#8217;s a good thing to do here and there, but don&#8217;t let it be your only form of exercise.</li>
<li><strong>Use variety. </strong>If you&#8217;re one of those people that gets bored easily, don&#8217;t stick to the same exercise day in and day out. Watching the same exercise video can be boring. Instead, run one day, do an exercise video the next, use the Wii and balance board the third day, and then go for a walk with a friend on the fourth. Just make sure that your <a href="http://www.weightwatchers.com/util/art/index_art.aspx?tabnum=1&amp;art_id=48801&amp;sc=3037">schedule</a> is set so you can stick with it every week and aren&#8217;t forgetting because you don&#8217;t know what you&#8217;re going to do that day.</li>
<li><strong>Exercise with a friend.</strong> When and where possible exercise with someone else. This will help keep your motivation up because you have someone to answer to.</li>
</ol>
<p>No matter what, don&#8217;t give up on exercising. It&#8217;s worth it!</p>
